SPECIFICATION: |
1978
was a great year. The first transportable coaster of the "Looping Star" type
started operation and travelled through Germany. You can see it on the first
picture. This coaster has had a huge
american touch (for example white/blue/red colors and banners with the
words great america on it) and so the newspapers wrote in 1978 that
the new "Looping Star" rollercoaster is the absolute top
attraction from the USA. I believe that only a few people knew the truth
that time - which was - that this american hightech-wonder and of course
the idea for it came out of a swabian man's brain, who indeed developed
and built this coaster... To ensure that such a big coaster could be a transportable unit, Anton Schwarzkopf invented a revolutionary "cone-plug-system". The number of supports was reduced compared to older systems and long winded screwings were reduced to a minimum. In fact of that invention, the showmen can save time and money while mounting or dismantling the ride. Also Amusement parks ordered that compact looping coaster and with it, they had the ultimate weapon against the looping-fever, which came up in the late seventies. That's why eight units have been built and sold worldwide. "Looping Star's" today can be found at parks in Spain, Hungary, USA, Japan, Belgium and the Netherlands. The first picture shows the very first and transportable "Looping Star" of the german showmen companies Bruch & Kinzler. Pictures 2 and 3 were taken in 1993 at "Ponypark" in Slagharen, Netherlands. Pictures 4 to 6 were taken in 1992 at "Dreamland" in Margate, England and pictures 7 to 10 were taken in 1999 at "Bobbejaanland" in Lichtaart, Belgium. "Dreamland's" "Looping Star" was interchanged with a Schwarzkopf made "Silverarrow" for the season 2001. The coaster at "Ponypark" got a new paint job and overhauled trains which have a steam locomotive design. |
